Newish churchy resources for funsies
Crazy Talk: A Not-so-stuffy Dictionary of Theological Terms, (Paperback) Rolf A. Jacobson (Editor)
Here’s a new book from Augsburg Fortress Press that will be a big hit–it’s always a good sign when Christian Bookstores refuse to stock something because it’s not boring enough.
I hope to put up a full review later, but here’s a teaser:
“Born again, v. adj. the process (v) of reuterine expatriation; the state (adj.) of having been so expatriated.”
“Protestant, n. a Christian church belonging to one of the many churches that disagreed with the Roman Church and therefore agreed to form other churches, which in turn agree with one another.”
The dictionary delves into each definition a bit more, with explanatory and funny insights. I happen to know several members of the writing team quite well, and thoroughly recommend this already-popular tome.

If you prepare sermons, you should know about this site. It went up a few months ago, and has only gotten better. I hope for more interactivity in the future, but heck, it’s pretty great now. The site is WorkingPreaching.org, run out of Luther Seminary’s Center for Biblical Preaching. Click the graphic below for a peruse.

Last but not least, @ this Point: theological investigations in church and culture is a spiffy online journal/discussion site by Columba Seminary. I’ve been out of the country, so am not sure how much it’s caught on, but the essays, videos, discussion texts, and writers are all top notch. The journal is intended for congregational discussions, but could be for personal or college classroom use as well.
